As a non-profit organization, the Royal Canadian Legion plays an important role in the lives of Canadian Veterans and their families, and provides essential services in the community.

Your Branch’s website plays a big part in your members’ experience by providing important information about upcoming events, menus and how to contact your Branch representatives. A modern website does more than make a good impression.

It helps you better serve your members, attract new members, and boost bookings and donations. It will also help you promote the benefits of belonging to the Legion to potential and existing members, and support more efficient volunteer recruitment.

Orléans Branch 632

Did you know that more than half (56%) of website users to the Orléans Branch 632 come from mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets?

It’s important to have a responsive website design that adapts to the device it’s being viewed on so web users get the best experience.

You can figure out if your Branch’s website is responsive with a quick test. Visit the website from your mobile device. If the photos, text and other elements are cut off or difficult to read, chances are your website is not responsive.

After updating the Branch 632 website to be mobile-friendly, members reported that it was much easier to find the information they were looking for.

What our clients are saying…

“While Michael and Erika aren’t part of the veteran community themselves, their enthusiastic commitment to The Pepper Pod’s cause and mission enabled them to create a website that we—and the women we serve—absolutely love.

From the very beginning, they recognized that service is paramount to our cause and this understanding was clear in every step of the website development process.

To get a feel for our organization, Michael and Erika visited The Pepper Pod, a testament to their dedication and commitment to immersing themselves both in our beautiful space and our mission.

Over the course of our project, we had regular virtual meetings every two weeks and I looked forward to every single one. They gave us reasonable and manageable tasks, ensuring that we were active participants in the process, and Michael was always helpful in answering our technical questions.

What truly set Michael and Erika apart was their unwavering support and respect for the veteran community. They created a fabulous website and showed themselves to be allies who honour the incredible women we serve.

I wholeheartedly recommend their services to other veteran-serving organizations.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Top Reasons to update your website:

  1. It hasn’t been updated in three or more years: You should update your website every two to three years. Five years is way too long to go without updating these days. UI/UX, technology, content…You need to keep things fresh even if you don’t have many competitors.
  2. You have no mobile version and/or your website isn’t responsive. If your website doesn’t look right on smartphones or tablets, chances are your members get frustrated when they visit.
  3. Dead links: There are links to pages that don’t exist anymore, whether internal or external. The more dead links, the less trust web users will feel on your website.
  4. It’s hard to make changes: These days, websites are built to make updating content easier than before. If making a small update – like adding an event to the Legion calendar – takes time and effort or requires contacting a third party – it’s time to upgrade to a more user-friendly platform.
  5. Your website looks out-of-date: The way your website looks reflects on your Branch. A well-organized and modern website tells web users that your Branch is modern, well-run and up-to-date.

Responsive Web Design is a collection of techniques that allow a website to flex and adapt to the size of the screen it’s being viewed on. Someone opening your site on a small smartphone could be shown on the same site as the person opening it on their laptop etc.

From consultation to launch, it typically takes between 6-8 weeks to redesign your Branch’s website. However, we’re flexible and willing to work at your speed.

We know each Branch is run by a small but committed team so we’ll run your project efficiently. You can expect a 1-hour kick-off meeting at the beginning of the project, in addition to the time it takes to review the website design and content. Finally, we recommend reserving 2 hours at the end of the project so we can show you how to update your website once it’s launched.

If you need assistance right away, please email support@elearnza.com.

We recommend having a small website committee of three or four individuals, including the Branch President and key decision-makers.
